Rainbow Hill Daylily Farm
Gift certificates available!

OPEN DATES/HOURS - Starting spring/summer/fall of 2008 we have realigned our business hours to best accommodate the operation of our landscaping BEST LAWNS & nursery “Rainbow Hill Daylily Farm”
business endeavors. We are still open 24/7 thru our website catalog (for mail orders) or via email at:

rainbowhilldaylilyfarm@hotmail.com

Going forward customers may contact us by phone Mondays thru Saturdays 9AM-6PM Eastern Standard time throughout the year for placing orders for spring, summer or fall delivery (early May thru late September). We can either ship your daylilies via Priority Mail or arrange an appointment for local pickup here at our nursery (Payment must follow phone order reservations asap via postmarked mail or dropped-off here at our nursery by appointment before phone orders are dug and ready for local pickup).

Our nursery is now only open for “Open Garden” touring to the general public for two segments of time: June ending & early July (during peak bloom). Within these two weekend intervals we will open our gardens for touring including:

the last (Friday/Saturday) weekend of June &
the 1st full (Friday/Saturday) weekend of July

(Note: if by chance, the last weekend interval of June overlaps into July, that will still count as the last weekend interval for June. Thus, we will be open for the 2nd interval during the 1st Friday/Saturday weekend in July)

This will be the revised design for our OPEN GARDEN visitation hours each blooming season, from here on forward, regardless if the 2nd weekend interval in July falls on the 4th of July holiday.

Business hours for both June/July weekends are: 10AM to 2PM.

Note: if there is free-time occasionally we may opt to dig customer daylilies during OPEN GARDEN visitation. When we are busy daylily orders will simply be accepted and processed later in the month for local pickup or Priority Mail shipping. Therefore, we will not be digging most customer orders during “Open Garden” visitation. We simply want to allow the “Open Garden” timing for assisting our customers by answering their landscaping or hybridizing questions. This timing will allow customers to view our daylilies in person while taking notes of their personal favorites! It will also give us more time to learn more about our customers and their favorite flowers!

FROM TIME TO TIME, we may not always be available to assist during “Open Garden” hours for whatever reason; if this happens to be the case you are still welcome to tour our “hillside garden” inventory” at your leisure during our June/July OPEN GARDEN weekend visitation. All other satellite gardens within the landscape as always are closed to the public for touring.

PLANTING TIMING - Daylilies in our region zone may be planted anytime during the spring/summer/fall growing season. Each year we are asked, “When is the best time to plant daylilies?” Personally, the best timing to plant is truly, “the moment one discovers the daylily(s) desired for their gardens!” In other words: “the sooner the better!

Unlike other plants, daylilies can be planted anytime from spring thru fall. However, the longer you wait to plant, the longer it will be before getting increase forming a matured clump. So, if it’s spring and you’re contemplating growing daylilies, buy & plant for the spring timing. If you happen to think “DAYLILIES” during mid-summer timing, get them in the ground asap to get them transplanted, prepared and “rooted-in” as early as possible before winter. Fall planting timing is good too …but don’t wait too long! First week of October is the very latest we recommend for safe Indiana bare-root transplanting on dormant/semi-evergreen daylilies (tender evergreen daylilies should be planted no later than late-August). However in the far south I have heard others suggesting it is better to plant either spring or fall as per their extreme hot summer growing conditions. However, planting with “our daylilies” mid-summer 80-100 degree hot temperatures have never caused issues with transplanting here in our zone. Our entire hillside gardens were planted during the hottest and driest mid-July timing experienced during summers of 1999 & 2000 - our daylilies indeed have pasted the ultimate heat-stress test for transplanting in our region 5-zone.

For already acquired daylilies growing within your own garden we make the same recommendation: the sooner you transplant, the sooner you’ll be enjoying better blooming and increase from your daylilies!

MAIL ORDER SALES INFORMATION - We accept mail orders/reservations throughout the year. Our shipping window for mail orders begins from mid-May thru the fourth weekend of September. Only in special cases will we ship later than September. If a customer is located in a warmer zone in the south, such as Florida or Texas, we may consider shipping outside of our regular seasonal shipping window as possible. We are now shipping internationally for minimum daylily orders of $300 (special handling/shipping fees apply - call or email for details).

GUARANTEE - We guarantee all daylilies, from our nursery, to be state inspected, true to name and freshly dug divisions. If for some reason you are not satisfied with your plants upon receipt, do not plant them - simply return them for a full refund. If in the event a daylily does not survive within your region for a year from the date of purchase, we will replace the plant for whatever reason. Furthermore, we do not alter our digital camera photos we take of our “individual daylilies” in any way shape or form. The colors you see in our daylily pics are exactly how the camera takes the snapshot. In most all cases, the daylilies look even better in person than what you see in our photos.

We no longer require a minimum order for domestic mail order purchases. Indiana residents must pay both shipping and 6% sales tax on all purchases.* At the present time, we accept personal checks, money orders, Pay Pal & credit card payments thru Pay Pal as well. Cash payment is also accepted for local purchases when visiting our nursery. Please print and include our website’s order form when ordering our daylilies by mail. Also, you may call us for mail order reservations. Customers will receive a generous bloom sized ‘bare-root’ double fan division (two divided fans) for each ‘Hillside Garden’ daylily ordered.** It is best to email or call ahead to check availability on our inventory before sending your order/payment.

Reserved mail orders for spring will be ready for local customer pickup beginning the 1st weekend of May. Local customers getting reserved daylilies at our nursery must call ahead for an appointment to confirm a pickup date and time.
